Kids on Stage

The Kids on Stage Foundation of Maury County was founded in 2000 by Jim Barrier and Smelter Service Corporation to enhance children’s opportunities to learn through the visual and performing arts.  It entails a great partnership between the school system and the KOS foundation.  The result of this partnership is Mount Pleasant Middle School of the Visual and Performing Arts.  Students of Maury County are exposed to great opportunities in the arts because of this generous partnership.

KOS has provided the school the entire arts wing, including a state of the art auditorium and recording studio.  In addition, KOS has provided computers, sound, video, and lighting equipment.  To this day, they continue to provide materials for the students of MPMSVPA such as instruments, music, and other materials needed to keep the students of the school actively engaged in arts education.

Through their generosity, MPMSVPA is able to offer students dance, theatre, visual arts, vocal music, and instrumental music.  This array of options for our students gives a truly unique middle school experience.  It is the hope of KOS that students will not only be actively involved in the arts, but that these experiences will translate to higher achievement in other academic areas such as math, reading, and science.

MPMSVPA offers students a complete slate of academic opportunities, clubs, sports, and other extra-curricular activities.  By giving all students an arts outlet as well, it is the hope and vision of KOS that all students find their particular niche, and become involved, confident, and successful students and members of the community.  You can find out more about the Kids on Stage Foundation of Maury County by clicking here.
